And Now What? Burnout
Thursday Apr 07, 2022
Thursday Apr 07, 2022
Do you feel exhausted and worn out? Perhaps you have become super reactive, edgy, and numb all at the same time? Do you find yourself completely depleted and nothing left in you to give to yourself or anyone else?
Listen in to our second podcast in a 3-part series: And Now What? addressing this most important, critical, and timely topic: Burnout. The pandemic has brought upon us unprecedented change as well as uncertainty. We have all had to adapt to a new way of life while having to simultaneously manage numerous responsibilities with our jobs, families, kids, and sadly but unfortunately, the death of loved ones.
So, why is there such a high incidence of burnout? Especially now, as we are slowly coming out of the height of the pandemic? How did we get to this phase? Are there different stages that lead to burnout and exhaustion? What type of practices or methods can we implement early on to prevent burnout?
Angelica Churchian, MA, LMFT, a licensed marriage and family therapist at Avedian Counseling Center in Los Angeles, explains how Burnout is best defined as chronic stress that has not been successfully managed. She goes on to explain the 4 stages of burnout and how in its fifth stage, a critical phase known as “Habitual Burnout Phase”, if burnout is not addressed, it will undoubtedly open the door to depression and anxiety.
Angelica stresses the importance of NOT IGNORING the physical, behavioral, and emotional signs of burnout and explains how to identify those signs and address them. This is a discussion you do not want to miss. If it’s not happening to you, it sure is happening to someone around you.

And Now What?
Balance is a Myth ~
It’s been two crazy long years living with the COVID-19 Pandemic. We’ve all been going through unprecedented change, trying to understand, cope and find balance in everything that’s been happening to us and around us. Many of us are confused and simply no longer understand or know how to find balance and order in our lives.
Now that we are slowly coming out the height of the pandemic, we have new changes coming our way. What changes have we all gone through? We have established new norms, but they have grown out of survival mode, thanks to COVID. The world looks so different now, where do we go from here? What is the new normal? As women, how do we balance a career along with daily demands of work, family, finances, aging parents, young children, spouse and even death. We are women. We are resilient but when is enough, enough?
We seek to find balance in our perfectionism and often, we fail. We wonder and strive to understand the secret recipe to attain that perfect balance and yet we fail again. Then we ask ourselves; is balance real or is it a myth?
In this episode, our guest, Sarah Rogers, a health, wellness and life coach explains the intricate nature of the multidimensional roles we play in our lives and that finding perfection and balance at the same time is simply a myth. However, does that mean we can’t have balanced and harmonious lives? Tune in and hear Sarah share her insights.

This week on The Avanti Woman Podcast, Nairy is joined by friends & experts, Hana and Ingrid, to talk about the importance of Medicare. We also cover all the information you need to know about selecting the right plan, the best insurance broker and where you can find resources to make the whole process easier.
Women and Medicare (Why women should understand Medicare?)
Medicare is a federal health insurance program that funds basic healthcare services for over 62.6 million individuals over 65 and with those who have certain disabilities. This number is increasing by 11,000 baby boomer beneficiaries per day until 2030! Without Medicare these millions of individuals would have difficulty accessing or paying for hospital care, physician visits, diagnostic tests, preventative services and prescription drugs.
According to a very large longitudinal study and data from US Department of health and human services and the 2020 report from talentinnovation.org, a global think tank, these consumers are overwhelmingly female. The researchers demonstrated that regardless of their marital status and whether they have children, 94% of women make healthcare decisions for themselves and 59% make healthcare decisions for others. Among those who work and have children under 18, 94% make decisions for others. The authors have called these decision makers the Chief Medical Officers of the Family, CMO’s comprise the industry’s core consumer segment, as they set the health and wellness agenda for themselves and others, choose treatment regimens, and hire and fire doctors, pharmacists and insurance providers.
Although women are the CMO’s and decision makers within the home, the problem researchers observed was that 58% of CMO’s lacked confidence in their decision making. Women also lack knowledge. They’re bombarded with information but don’t know what to believe or trust. 78% do not fully trust their insurance provider.
So what’s the solution? We need to understand the CMO’s and gear our message to them. Overall 80% of women are the healthcare decision makers within the home. Women must understand the basics of Medicare, timelines for enrollment to avoid penalties and how to find the right resources in order to help their family members; mothers, fathers, uncles, grandmothers, aunts, and…. For themselves.
The majority of individuals receiving Medicare are women. They constitute more than half of the individuals with Medicare. The program is therefore critically important to preserving the health and well-being of our mothers and grandmothers.
We believe the world needs more strong women who inspire and build each other up. By providing a platform that helps women learn, grow, and connect with other successful women, we empower them and help them build the life they want. By building up women to be successful and self-sufficient, we help build up society.
